Sean McCoy receives an "F" for board meeting attendance

Longmont City Councilmembers get paid $1,000 a month ($1,500 for mayor) to attend the weekly council meetings, plus other various functions.  One of those functions is to attend board and commission meetings.  Sean McCoy is a member of five different boards, and his attendance is abysmal, barely scraping the 40% level.  This is not acceptable.


For the period of January 2010 through July 2011 there were 73 confirmed meetings, Mr. McCoy attended 28, that's 39%.  The word confirmed is used because there were more meetings beyond this 73 number, but minutes were not kept or were vague.  One board in particular, Housing and Human Services Advisory Board, only reported when Mr. McCoy attended a particular meeting.  Out of 18 meetings he attended 2 for sure; 4 meetings didn't have minutes posted, and 12 times it didn't say one way or the other.  Some of the new HHS members haven't even met him yet!

For Art In Public Places he attended 7 meetings, was absent for 8, and 4 meetings had no minutes or no mention of his attendance.

For the Golf Course Advisory Board he attended 5 meetings, was absent for 8, and 3 meetings had no minutes or no mention of his attendance.

For the Museum Advisory Board he attended 8 meetings, was absent for 5, and 5 meetings had no minutes posted.

For the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board (PRAB) he attended 6 meetings, was absent for 10, and 1 meeting had no minutes posted.

Something the numbers above don't even address are the late arrivals and early exits of Mr. McCoy, particularly at the PRAB meetings.  It's clear Sean McCoy doesn't take his council position seriously and thinks it's a birthright because his last name is McCoy.  Perhaps he would have more time to attend advisory board meetings as a citizen and not as a council member.  You can help him in this area this election by...
