In a chance to show voters of Longmont that he's at least somewhat bright and not a egotistical buffoon, Longmont councilmember Sean McCoy failed in both areas at the recent candidate forum at Silver Creek High School. This is MUST SEE TV when it gets replayed on Longmont Channel 8.
In the most telling moment, candidates McCoy and his opponent Bonnie Finley were asked to answer in 15 seconds how to improve civility on council. Sean McCoy couldn't and didn't answer the question. Just about all of the other candidates were asked the same question, and while they had to be politically correct, I'll answer in the way that everyone is thinking:
The best way to improve civility on Longmont City Council is to vote out the likes of Sean McCoy. That one thing alone would go a long way towards healing the toxic environment that currently exists on council. Removing Sean McCoy, even more so than his co-candidates Sarah Levison and Brian Hansen, would be about the best thing that could happen to this fine city.
As far as ego, just watch how often Sean McCoy says "I' and "me". Just like his idol Barack Obama who can't say "I" and "me" enough, with a sprinkling of "we"'s that really mean, well, "me". Which brings to mind the following video:
He thought he was reading a JFK moment, as he stumbles and bumbles his way though a pre-written statement. In reality he was showing a sad, school-girl infatuation and some pathetic hero worship.
Don't fail to watch the candidate forum, here is the schedule
